About Gloucester Township Fire District #4

Protecting Blackwood since 1957—with professionalism, pride, and purpose.

OUr Mission

Gloucester Township Fire District #4 is committed to protecting the lives and property of the residents and visitors of the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township through professional, efficient, and compassionate emergency services. As a combination fire district, we integrate the dedication of both volunteer and career firefighters to provide fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services with the highest level of commitment and teamwork.

In addition to serving our own community, we proudly provide automatic and mutual aid to neighboring fire districts, ensuring a seamless and coordinated response to emergencies beyond our borders. In partnership with Gloucester Township Fire District #2, we staff a full-time career engine, ready to respond at a moment’s notice, 24/7.

We recognize that the fire service is constantly evolving, and we are committed to adapting to new challenges through continuous training, innovation, and strategic planning. To minimize the financial burden on our constituents, we actively pursue grants and other unique funding opportunities, striving to enhance public safety while maintaining fiscal responsibility and reducing reliance on overburdensome tax levies.

Looking toward the future, we embrace a vision of a more unified fire service in Gloucester Township. Through shared services, cooperative efforts, and strong partnerships with neighboring districts, we consistently work toward greater efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration to better serve our residents.

Beyond emergency response, we are dedicated to proactive fire prevention, public education, and community engagement, working tirelessly to enhance safety and preparedness. Through professionalism, teamwork, and a steadfast commitment to our mission, we uphold the trust placed in us and strive to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient community.

District Leadership

Gloucester Township Fire District #4 is governed by an elected Board of Fire Commissioners, who oversee funding, policy, and long-term planning for fire protection in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township. The Board works closely with the Fire Chief and administrative staff to ensure the district’s mission is carried out with accountability, professionalism, and transparency.

The day-to-day operations of the fire district are led by our Fire Chief and supported by dedicated personnel committed to safety, service, and community engagement.

A Combination Fire District

Founded in 1957, GTFD #4 operates as a combination fire district—bringing together the strengths of both career and volunteer firefighters in partnership with Blackwood Fire Company.

Our members work side-by-side to answer emergency calls, participate in regular training, and support public education and outreach. We're proud to be deeply embedded in the Blackwood community we serve.

Rooted in tradition. Ready for tomorrow.

We’re proud to serve, and honored to protect.
